Fat pants

17 weeks pregnant.  I have had to retire my work jeans.  They are just getting too tight with this growing bump (I am only 1kg up on my pre-pregnancy weight, not sure how but I blame work).  My work jeans are being replaced by old lady fat pants.  Elastic waist, no tailoring to the leg whatsoever, and too short to be pants and too long to be capris but perfect length for old ladies to avoid tripping on.  I am all sorts of sexy (lucky for the Moose, who has been married to me for three years today!!  Happy anniversary Moose!).

I have one pair of maternity jeans, and they are way too nice for work.  I foresee internet shopping in my future, since there simply are no stores selling maternity clothes within a 3 hour drive.  There are, however, lots of shops selling old lady clothes, and old lady fat pants.  Score.

  1. The first time I looked at maternity pants, I thought, "Why aren't these my every day pants?" I'm bigger around the middle than I am from the thigh down, so finding pants that fit correctly are hard. Also I am of the opinion that no plus-sized woman should ever wear low-rise anything, and the current trend is still a shorter rise. I miss mom jeans with the high waists that covered non-baby belly bumps. At any rate, I can't WAIT until I can order some wide-legged maternity pants. They are like my dream pant.

    1. I agree completely on the low rise jeans!! They are the devil! I may have the opposite problem you have, as my thighs and ass are HUGE but my waist is smaller, so I always end up with gap-y waist jeans, since the only ones to fit over the thighs have too big of a waist! I love my levis 525 perfect waist jeans...they are so mom jeans but don't really look like mom jeans!

  2. yay for old lady fat pants lol. I love how you described them. I wore elastic waist pants for a while, although I found they didn't work for very long because eventually the bump pushed them down, then you always feel like your pants are falling off.

    1. Yeah, I can see this happening in my future. That and because I am too embarrassed to run to the store after work wearing old lady fat pants. And I always have to run to the store because I seriously forget everything these days.
